Dr. Michael Wilson is a Co-Investigator on “The HVIP+ Community Model: A Community Violence Prevention Program in a Southern State” project with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is a member of the Policy, Implementation and Economic Evaluation workgroup for the Community Firearm Violence Prevention Network.

Dr. Wilson is board-certified in emergency medicine and a tenured Associate Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Clinically, he serves as the emergency department (ED) lead for both neurological and psychiatric emergencies. He further serves as the clinical director for Project Heal, a hospital-based violence intervention program for violent assault injury patients seen at UAMS and oversees the program’s peer support specialist roles in the ED setting. Dr. Wilson’s research interests are in behavioral emergencies and substance use disorders, with more than 90 peer-reviewed articles, 30 book chapters, 4 edited books, and multiple grants in this area. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Emergency Medicine.
