Roland Hwang is a Co-Investigator and Community Partner of the “Adaptable Community-Engaged Intervention for Violence Prevention: Michigan Model” project at Eastern Michigan University. He is a member of the 1. Steering Committee, 2. Community Engagement, 3. Policy, Implementation, and Economic Evaluation, and the 4. Communication and Dissemination workgroups.

Roland Hwang is chair of the Asian Communities Toward Innovative Visionary Environment (ACTIVE), an advisory group comprised of Asian community group representatives around the State of Michigan who have collaborated on project implementation throughout the state. His background has been in community organizing and networking through the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission and its predecessor the Michigan Governor’s Advisory Commission on Asian American Affairs. ACTIVE and its group representatives will identify people to survey to (1) identify the root causes of threats or anxiety that may prompt APAs to purchase firearms, (2) identify strategies to encourage safe firearm storage, and (3) identify measures to prevent firearm-related injuries and death.
