Anne Marie Vollero Thompson, MPH, CHES, CLC is a Co-Investigator for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston project “Incorporation of a Health Equity Approach to Hospital Violence Intervention Programs: The Integration of a Community and Hospital Based Initiatives to Reduce Gun Violence in a Large Metropolitan Area.” She is a member of the Community Engagement workgroup for the Community Firearm Violence Prevention Network.
Anne Marie completed her MPH with a focus in Health Promotion and Health Education/Behavioral Sciences from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. In 2006 she was selected as an NIH Cancer Research Training Award Fellow and worked for one year in the Health Promotion Research Branch of the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences at the National Cancer Institute in Rockville, MD. For almost two decades she served as a Health Education Specialist for Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP), a subsidiary of Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. She taught disease management and prevention classes to pediatric and obstetrical patients at TCHP’s Medicaid clinics. Her specialty areas include injury prevention, nutrition and lactation (she is also a Certified Lactation Counselor). Anne Marie is now a Senior Project Manager for The Center for Health Equity at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health.
