Dr. Christian “Paige” Owen, PhD, RN, CEN is a Co-Investigator for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston project “Incorporation of a Health Approach to Hospital Violence Intervention Programs: The Integration of a Community and Hospital Based Initiatives to Reduce Gun Violence in a Large Metropolitan Area.”
Dr. Owen’s research, informed by her experience as an emergency nurse and clinical educator, examines the mental and behavioral health impacts of trauma care on healthcare workers, and their influence on patient care delivery. Her work focuses on traumatic injury, secondary traumatic stress, clinician coping strategies, and implementation of trauma-informed care practices. Additionally, she investigates health-related policies and interventions aimed at reducing workplace violence, particularly within emergency care settings. For this project, she will collaborate with the project team to assess, develop, and implement trauma-informed care education for providers and clinical staff.
