Dr. Doug Wiebe is a Co-Investigator for the University of Michigan Coordinating Center and is a member of the Data & Methods Core.
Dr. Wiebe studies interactions between people and the environment and health risks that result, with a focus on injuries and violence. He approaches study design issues by working at a temporal and spatial scale that is relevant to the induction period for a given exposure and outcome. The Space-Time Epi Group that he directs supports trainees whose research topics have a temporal dimension, a spatial dimension, or both. The primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of firearm injury is a focus of his research and training activities, with topics ranging from injury risks from features of neighborhood environments, to the regionalization of access to level I trauma centers, to the role of state policies in firearm injury prevention.
