Karlton Harris is a Community Partner with The Forgotten Third as part of the project “Launching the Houston-HVIP: Developing and Evaluating a Hospital-Based Intervention to Reduce Recurrent Violence” at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and is a member of the Steering Committee for the Community Firearm Violence Prevention Network.
Karlton Harris is the Executive Director of The Forgotten Third. He is a community leader and speaker with more than 20 years of experience in designing and implementing supports to improve the lives of underserved youth and communities. Karlton served Houstonians as the Youth Violence Prevention City Lead for six consecutive years. As the lead, Karlton was responsible for the creation of The Houston Peace Youth Violence Strategic Plan and Houston Peace Youth Violence Prevention Coalition which focused on gun violence prevention, social determinants of health and increased protective factors surrounding credible messenger mentoring and community violence interruption.
