Dr. Kevin Rix, PhD, MPH is a Co-Investigator for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston project “Incorporation of a Health Approach to Hospital Violence Intervention Programs: The Integration of a Community and Hospital Based Initiatives to Reduce Gun Violence in a Large Metropolitan Area.” He is a member of the Data and Methods workgroup for the Community Firearm Violence Prevention Network.

Dr. Kevin Rix is an injury prevention scientist with joint appointments in the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science and Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Rix’s work focuses on understanding injury risk behaviors, and associated ways to prevent injuries.

He is a trained injury epidemiologist and his work in firearms focuses on understanding how characteristics of where and when a person lives increases or decreases their risk of injury. Dr. Rix’s work focuses on understanding injury data and being able to translate it to the injury prevention professionals for improved implementation of community based programming.
