Marisol Nieves is a Clinical Social worker on the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston project “Launching the Houston-HVIP: Developing and Evaluating a Hospital-Based Intervention to Reduce Recurrent Violence.”
During her time as a social worker, she has worked in nonprofits, level 1 trauma hospitals and clinical settings that have highlighted firearm injury. She has been exposed to the prevention, intervention, and post intervention side of firearm injuries. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, childhood trauma resolution, stress management, and racial and cultural identity challenges for minorities. She has a passion for working with clients to promote awareness, provide education and process events related to firearm injury.
