Mofan Gu, PhD, is a data analyst on “The HVIP+ Community Model: A Community Violence Prevention Program in a Southern State” at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). In this role, he supports the study team with data linkage, management, quantitative analysis, and visualization. 

Dr. Gu is a senior research associate at UAMS, with over a decade of experience in quantitative research across areas such as criminal justice, mental health, substance use disorders, and HIV. His career spans work in the state and federal government, private foundations, and international public health projects in the U.S., China, and South Africa. Dr. Gu is a trained epidemiologist with a strong focus on data analytics. He is particularly experienced with big data and geospatial methods, and his research centers on predicting adverse health outcomes using social and behavioral determinants. Dr. Gu’s current projects explore the application of emerging new techniques in health research and implementation. 

Dr. Gu earned his BA in Biology from Hendrix College, an MPH in Epidemiology from Columbia University, and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
